Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that his American counterpart Joe Biden should come to Ukraine. He said this on Sunday, April 17, in an interview with CNN.

“Of course, this is his decision, which will be made depending on the security situation. But I think that he, being the leaders of the United States, should come here and see everything with his own eyes, ”Zelensky said, answering the question if he wants Biden to visit Ukraine.

Earlier, on April 15, White House press secretary Jen Psaki explained that Biden’s visit to Kyiv was not planned. She noted that the US president is ready for anything, including a trip to Ukraine, but so far there is no talk of this.

Before that, on April 14, Biden announced his readiness to personally go to Kyiv. While talking to reporters before boarding the presidential flight in Maryland, the American leader was asked if he was ready to send someone from his administration to the Ukrainian capital. Biden replied that a decision on this matter had not yet been made. The President of the United States was asked to clarify who could qualify for this role. Then he jokingly asked the journalist if she was ready to go to Kyiv. She agreed and in response asked the US leader if he was ready to go to Kyiv, to which she received an affirmative answer: “Yes.”

The day before, the Politico newspaper reported that the United States is discussing the possibility of sending a representative of its administration to Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and show support for this country. A final decision on this has not yet been made. Among the possible candidates for this role were Biden and US Vice President Kamala Harris. However, according to the publication’s sources, the most likely scenario is that the head of the country’s diplomatic or defense department will go to Kyiv.

At the same time, a day earlier, Biden, during his next speech, confused Ukraine with China. The American leader made a slip when talking about the food crisis, and ranked the PRC among a number of wheat producers.
