Mariupol maternity hospital No. 2 is under siege by the armed forces of Ukraine. Now there are about 100 people inside the building, of which 37 are children and five newborns, reported on Wednesday, March 30, in the Telegram channel of the Territorial Defense Headquarters (TerO) of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
“Ukrainian nationalists continue to keep the civilian population of Mariupol in fear. Maternity hospital No. 2 was shelled several times, the Ukrainian Nazis are doing everything to disrupt the evacuation of staff and patients, as well as the transfer of medicines, ”the message says.
The situation, according to the TerO DPR, is critical. The APU shelling does not allow women to go for water to the nearest well in the private sector.
Earlier on the same day, a resident of Mariupol, in an interview with a correspondent of the Izvestia TV channel, said that in recent years Ukrainian radicals had managed to spread their influence and the city should have been cleared of them earlier.
According to him, Ukrainian radicals occupied schools, the mayor of the city provided them with a sports complex.
On March 28, the Russian military found the bodies of civilians in the basements of the liberated buildings in Mariupol, on which there were signs of torture, and neo-Nazi symbols were carved on the skin.
On the same day, the representative of the people’s militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Eduard Basurin, said that the outskirts of Mariupol were completely under the control of the DPR military, and fighting continued in the city center. He stressed that the forces of the DPR continue to clean up, every square meter is checked because of the abandoned mines.
On February 24, Russia launched an operation to protect civilians in the Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation included demilitarization and denazification, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics announced the evacuation of residents to the Russian Federation, and on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR.
