The MetaMask non-custodial wallet team has announced support for bitcoin in a Web3 application.
The option is implemented using the Snaps developer tool. This system runs in an isolated environment and allows anyone to extend MetaMask’s capabilities.
In March, MetaMask owner ConsenSys announced that the wallet’s monthly active users had surpassed 30 million.
Recall that the head and founder of ConsenSys, Joseph Lubin, hinted at the possibility of MetaMask having its own token.
However, the head of the project’s operations department, Jacob Kantale, warned that in this case, users should not count on a generous airdrop.
