The cost of the first cryptocurrency fell to $34.3 thousand. This was the beginning of hostilities in Ukraine.

On the morning of February 24, the bitcoin rate fell to $34.3 thousand. At the moment, the first cryptocurrency is trading at $35 thousand, over the past day it has fallen in price by 8%.

The largest altcoins in terms of capitalization also fell sharply in price over the past day. For example, the Ethereum exchange rate fell by 12%, to $2.3 thousand, the price of Binance Coin fell by 11%, to $335, and the XRP token also fell in price by 11%, to $0.64.

The price of bitcoin dropped sharply after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in the Donbass. In a video message, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the country was introducing martial law.

The Russian military strikes at military infrastructure, aviation, air defense facilities, military airfields in Ukraine. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that nothing threatens the civilian population.

Earlier, the heads of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics appealed to the President of Russia with a request to assist in repelling aggression from the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to avoid civilian casualties and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe.
