US President Joe Biden has told former US leader Barack Obama that he plans to run for president in 2024. This was reported by The Hill newspaper on April 19, citing its sources.

“Biden wants to participate in the elections, and he clearly wants everyone to know about it,” one of them told the publication.

According to him, Biden remains the representative of the Democratic Party, who has the most significant chances to win the election of former US President Donald Trump if he is nominated by the Republican Party.

“He (Biden. – Ed.) believes that he is the only one who can defeat Trump,” the newspaper quoted a source familiar with the content of the conversation between Biden and Obama.

The White House declined to comment on the conversation, and one of Biden’s advisers said that the president himself publicly stated that he was going to run for a second term.

However, the newspaper notes, Biden’s plans to achieve re-election may be hindered by low ratings and age. Biden is now 79 years old, and at the start of his second term, if he wins the 2024 election, he will be 82.

On April 15, CNN reported that Joe Biden’s trust rating had been lowered to record lows. According to a generalized analysis of polls published by four organizations over the past few days, the level of confidence in the US president was 41%. And one of them reports 33%, which is an anti-record among the indicators of Biden’s predecessors for the same period of the presidency.
